Closets For Less is a custom closet company serving Lansdale, PA and the surrounding North Penn area. We design walk-in, reach-in and wardrobe closets, plus pantries, mudrooms and garage storage, and our own team installs every system. It starts with a free in-home design consultation, and we have been doing this work for local homeowners since 2007.
Closet design for Lansdale’s older borough homes
Lansdale grew up as a railroad town, and the blocks closest to the train station are still lined with twins and single homes from that era. Those houses were built when people owned far fewer clothes. Bedroom closets are often narrow and shallow, some sit under a sloped roofline on the third floor, and a few bedrooms have no closet at all.
In these homes we focus on using every inch of height and width:
- Double hanging on one side for shirts and pants, with a short section of long hanging for dresses and coats
- Shelves that run to the ceiling for sweaters and seasonal bins, reached with a step stool rather than lost behind a single high shelf
- A short stack of drawers inside the closet so a dresser can leave the bedroom
- Stepped or angled shelving that follows a sloped ceiling instead of leaving dead space behind it
Where a bedroom has no closet, a built-in wardrobe closet gives you hanging and drawer storage in one cabinet fitted to the wall.
Built-in closet systems for newer homes around Lansdale
Outside the borough, the neighborhoods in Towamencin, Hatfield and Upper Gwynedd townships are full of colonials and townhouses built from the 1970s on. Their closets are bigger, but most were finished with one rod and one shelf. A built-in system changes how much those closets hold.
Walk-in closets
In a primary bedroom walk-in we plan each wall for a job: hanging on one, drawers and shoe shelving on another, and folded storage on the third. If the room is wide enough, an island adds drawers and a surface for folding. Our walk-in closet designs can include jewelry drawers, valet rods, belt and tie racks and a built-in hamper.
Reach-in closets
Kids’ rooms and guest rooms in these homes usually have a standard reach-in. Splitting it into double hanging, adjustable shelves and a pair of closet drawers keeps clothes off the floor and lets the layout change as children grow.
More than closets
Most Lansdale households that call us about a closet have a second space that needs the same help. We also design:
| Space | Suggested design |
|---|---|
| Pantry | Adjustable shelving, pull-out baskets, room for small appliances |
| Mudroom or side entry | Lockers or cubbies, a bench, hooks and shoe storage |
| Laundry room | Cabinets, a folding counter and hanging space |
| Garage | Tall cabinets, workbenches and slatwall |
| Home office | Desk, file drawers and shelving |
Hall, linen and coat closets
The bedroom closet gets the attention, but the hall closets in a Lansdale home often cause more daily frustration. A coat closet by the front door usually has one rod and a shelf too high to use. We add a lower shelf for hats and gloves, hooks on the side walls for bags and leashes, and a shoe shelf at the floor so boots stop sliding into the hallway. Linen closets in older houses are often deep and tall with fixed shelves set too far apart; adjustable shelves at the right spacing for towels and sheets, plus a pull-out basket or two near the bottom, make the whole depth reachable. These smaller closets are quick to design and can be added to a bedroom closet project at the same consultation.
Why a local closet designer matters in the North Penn area
A closet that fits is a closet that was measured properly. Older Lansdale homes rarely have square walls or standard depths, so we measure in person at the free consultation and design to those numbers. You see the design and an estimate, ask for changes, and approve it before we order materials. Then our installers put it in.
We are a locally owned business based in Warminster, close enough to Lansdale to come back if you want to add a pantry or garage later. Homeowners rate us 4.8 stars on Google.
Planning your budget
Price depends on the size of the closet, the balance of drawers, shelves and hanging, the finish and the accessories you choose. Our custom closet cost guide explains how those choices add up, and the free estimate gives you a written number for your own closet. If you are comparing options across the county, our Montgomery County closet design page covers the full range of what we build.
